Interested Preceptors : 91ߣ��Ƶ, Greater Cincinnati Region

A preceptor is an experienced individual whose goal is to help the student translate classroom knowledge into real-world application. We are always in need of preceptors like you, who are motivated to teach and share your expertise with the next generation of nurse practitioners! As such, to be a preceptor, individuals must meet certain requirements as outlined in the student handbook and below.

Preceptor Requirements

Education Level

FNP, AGACNP. AGPCNP, PPCNP, PACNP, PMHNP: holds a master's or doctoral degree in nursing and certification in the Nurse Practitioner specialty area.
Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist
Psychiatrist (Board Certified)
CNM: holds a master's or doctoral degree in area of practice
MD or DO: holds an earned doctoral degree
PA: holds a master's or doctoral degree (if allowed as a preceptor by the state)
Psychologist or a graduate degree-prepared counselor
LPCC - Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor
LICSW - Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker
Nurse Executive

Experience

Must have at least 1 year of experience in current role with current education level.

Licensure & Residency

Must be located within current NKU approved states with an active, unencumbered, license.

Willingness

The preceptor is willing and able to commit to the preceptor role for the practicum experience.

Each clinical rotation is a 7-week commitment for approximately 125 hours per student.
Preceptors must be available to mentor students for 2-3 days per week in order to meet the program requirements.

Employment

The preceptor is employed at the location where the practicum takes place.

Ratio

The preceptor has not reached the maximum number of approved preceptor to student ratio at this or another institution.

Restrictions

The preceptor must not be:

The student's direct or immediate supervisor
The student's relative, family member, fiance, significant other, roommate, personal friend, or primary care provider
A current student (in another specialty area)

Before Precepting

Before a preceptorship can take place, each practice site must fill out an Affiliation Agreement. Both the practice site and NKU must finalize the agreement before the intended clinical term.
To start your preceptorship, we will need a copy of your CV/resume, license, and the completed preceptors' responsibilities forms.
