Department of Psychological Science

Dr. Kinsey Bryant-Lees is an Industrial-Organizational & Human Factors Psychologist who has taught graduate classes in I-O Psychology, Cognition in the Workplace, and Organization Change and Development, and developed an undergraduate special topics course on the Psychology of Prejudice and Discrimination. Her research uses innovative design and advanced statistical methods to more accurately capture peoples’ workplace experiences, particularly as they relate to hiring discrimination and DEI-focused organizational change.

 
Allison Parker

Dr. Allison Parker studies social and ecological determinants impacting tick- and mosquito-borne diseases and incorporates students throughout all aspects of her research projects.  She is an excellent mentor and sought-after instructor teaching across a wide-range of our courses who consistently uses research projects and discussions to help students become more scientifically literate and be better scientific communicators.

 
Lauren Williamson

Dr. Lauren Williamson has received multiple external grants to support her work studying topics of neuroimmune interactions, prenatal/perinatal programming, hippocampal-dependent memory, role of microglia in normal brain function, and gut macrobiome-brain interactions. She is an amazing educator both in the research lab and the classroom, having taught seventeen different courses at NKU she focuses on ushering our students into the professional world and honoring their humanity.

Brooke has been a leader on campus, as the Chair of Mathematics & Statistics for the past 7 years and Chair of the Council of Chairs for four years, but also on Success by Design Degree Mapping Project, Summer Spark Bridge Program, and math placement initiatives. She has excelled at obtaining funding from the National Science Foundation and the Council on Postsecondary Education, at implementing innovative teaching practices, and at continually developing creative solutions to encourage student success.

Tanyon Boston

Tanyon Boston

Associate Professor of Law

Tanyon Boston was promoted to Associate Professor after joining the Chase tenure-track faculty in 2022. She is a nationally recognized expert in Sports Law, including the legal issues surrounding name, image and likeness (NIL). Professor Boston teaches Property, Uniform Commercial Code and Sports Law.

 
Alex Kreit

Alex Kreit

Associate Professor of Law

Alex Kreit was promoted to Associate Professor after joining the Chase tenure-track faculty in 2020 His area of research includes drug law and policy in which he holds leadership roles, including appointment as a member of the Governor’s Task Force on Medical Cannabis. Professor Kreit teaches Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Evidence, and health law courses.

Dr. Mike DiCicco joined NKU in 2014 as an assistant professor of middle grades and literacy education. He has cultivated strong partnerships with local schools through the creation of the embedded program, and has provided the College of Education invaluable expertise related to university-school partnerships, middle grades programming, and adolescent literacy.

Dana Ripley

Dr. Dana Ripley teaches courses in Diagnosis of Emotional and Mental Disorders, and Substance Abuse and Addictions, as well as serving as the coordinator for internship and practicum placements in the counselor education program.  Dr. Ripley has incorporated the Center for Simulation Education to provide her students with a unique learning experience. Her numerous publications have focused on methods of phenomenology to understand the experiences of clients in opioid treatments.

Dr. Sylvestro has made many contributions to enhance student success both on an undergraduate level in conjunction with the human services and addictions program and on the graduate level in the counselor education program. Dr. Sylvestro has demonstrated the importance of experiential learning in developing students to become competent, ethical, and self-aware helpers in their profession.

Dr. White is an exceptional on-line nursing educator whose teaching focus is the Theory and Research of Evidence Based Practice and Leadership in Organizations and Systems in the DNP program.  Her research areas of focus are nursing wellbeing and retention and the brand image of nursing.

Dr. Tagher is an outstanding nursing educator with a teaching focus in pediatric nursing in the undergraduate and masters’ program. She teaches pre-nursing students in the Honors College with a teaching focus of defining health outside of the healthcare system.  Her research focus is best practices in teaching, learning and student success, including case based approaches in teaching, for the development of clinical judgment.

Chattopadhyay

Ankur Chattopadhyay

Chattopadhyay, a key contributor to Cybersecurity programs, expanded the curriculum and served as the Undergraduate Program Coordinator. Since joining NKU in Spring 2020, Ankur, a prolific cybersecurity researcher, authored over 20 peer-reviewed papers, collaborating with undergraduate students. Currently, he directs the NKU Center of Information Security.

Noor, coordinator for the Information Technology program, specializes in teaching cybersecurity and information technology classes. Shahid's research spans cybersecurity, cloud computing, and blockchain. He is dedicated to student success, having mentored over 10 students in undergraduate research projects and serving as the advisor for the NKU Cybersecurity Team.

Dr. Boshra Karimi has become a leader in our Construction Management program, where she has developed courses, led a study abroad experience, and advises our student organization. She has also been recognized for her teaching excellence by the Associated Schools of Construction, and she maintains an active research agenda focused on sustainability in construction.

Hailley Fargo is the Head of Education and Outreach Services at Steely Library, where she leads the teaching, learning, and outreach team. Her teaching and research interests focus on strengthening undergraduate students’ information literacy skills, the intersections of undergraduate research experiences and academic libraries, building capacity for librarians to conduct research, and using participatory design methods to co-create knowledge.
