Faculty Fellows receive support for faculty research, scholarship, creative endeavors, teaching efforts, or collaborative projects in health, health literacy, healthcare, and the social determinants of health.

IHI Faculty Fellows Request for Proposals

Purpose

The Institute for Health Innovation is committed to supporting faculty activities at NKU. As part of our initiatives to enhance faculty accomplishments, we are offering two funding opportunities annually.

Seed Grants

Provide support for faculty research, scholarship, creative endeavors, or teaching efforts in health, health literacy, healthcare, and the social determinants of health. They are aimed at assisting faculty members in the initial phases of research, scholarship, or creative projects or in developing innovative courses or course sequences (micro-credentials, certificates, etc.). These activities may include (but are not limited to) the following:

  1. Funding of critical experiments
  2. Purchase/updating of necessary supplies or instrumentation
  3. Support for students who will help in the project

Branch Awards

Provide support for faculty in moving from “discussion” of interdisciplinary collaboration to action, which will heighten their professional visibility or the impact of NKU in the fields of health, health literacy, healthcare, or the social determinants of health. The award should focus on broadening one’s intellectual profile or exploring new facets of research, scholarship, creative, or community engagement endeavors that will invigorate ongoing and future programs. These activities may include (but are not limited to) the following:

  1. Advanced training in a particular area
  2. Interdisciplinary or cross-institutional collaboration
  3. Entrepreneurial or community endeavors
  4. University projects that benefit any IHI initiatives
  5. Health-related projects that have a diversity or cultural focus
