REBEKAH LEDUC NAMED 2018-19 OVERALL OUTSTANDING HAILE/US BANK COLLEGE OF BUSINESS UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT

On April 12, the Haile/US Bank College of Business celebrated what makes us special, the hard work and talents of our brightest students, at the annual Spring Awards Luncheon.  Recognition was given to the most outstanding students in each discipline of the College, newly inducted Beta Gamma Sigma members, the Student Advisory Council, graduating Student Ambassadors and the Overall Outstanding Haile/US Bank College of Business Undergraduate Student.

The Overall Outstanding Haile/US Bank College of Business Undergraduate Award is the highest student honor bestowed by the Haile/US Bank College of Business.  In choosing the recipient, faculty nominate students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance, leadership in extracurricular activities, and high potential for future leadership in the individual’s professional life, among other things.  Additionally, nominees must be sponsored by at least two faculty members from different disciplines.  The 2018-19 recipient of this coveted award is Rebekah LeDuc.

A native to the Northern Kentucky region, LeDuc began pursuing her accounting degree from NKU in 2014.  Throughout her tenure with the Haile/US Bank College of Business, she has taken up many leadership positions in cross-disciplinary groups, including: serving as president of the Finance and Accounting Student Association, the SEC president, the student member of the Accounting Board, a Becker CPA Review Campus Ambassador, a Student Ambassador of the college, and, of particular note, the Student Member of the 2018-19 College of Business Dean Search Committee.

LeDuc's numerous leadership activities and experiences extend far beyond the classroom.  Applying the knowledge she's gained from her course work, she's completed numerous internships, including: two seasons of a tax internship with Burke and Schindler, an Accounting Clerk position with Legal Aid of the Bluegrass and an Investment Accounting Internship with Great American Insurance Company  - who has recognized her outstanding demeanor and are offering a full-time position with the company when she graduates this May.  LeDuc is also an active member in the community, partaking in volunteer events with the Ronald McDonald House, organizing events for her church and serving as a member of the Wyoming Fine Arts Center's contra dancing community.

"As anyone who's had Rebekah in class will attest, she exhibits the characteristics one associates with fine students everywhere: fierce intelligence, a willingness to challenge accepted wisdom, iron self-discipline, a deep reservoir of creativity and an exemplary commitment to learning.  Her ability to absorb, synthesize and apply vast amounts of material is unsurpassed." said Daniel Kent, a Lecturer in the Management Department. "She has served our college magnificently, both within and without our academic community.  Her many activities add significant luster to our college's fine reputation as a home of academic excellence and strong commitment to community service."
