Student Research Opportunities

In addition to the availability of ANT 325 Applied Anthropology and ANT 340 Ethnographic Methods as well as ANT 365/565 Ethnographic Field School (every summer), The Center for Applied Anthropology offers up to two students per semester the opportunity to conduct, analyze, and write about applied anthropological research working one-on-one with the director (Douglas Hume).

With permission from the director, one to six credit hours of independent study (ANT 499 or ANT 599) may be earned. Students must meet the following minimum requirements to be eligible:

1. Junior standing (60 credit hours earned) with a 3.0 overall GPA
2. Earning a B in ANT 275 Language and Culture
3. Earning a B in one methods course in cultural anthropology (ANT 325 Applied Anthropology, ANT 340 Ethnographic Methods, ANT 342 Quantitative Methods in Anthropology or ANT 365/565 Ethnographic Field School)
